Since our last news update Arthur and Margaret have been very active in preaching and teaching in a variety of nations
There was great excitement in Arthur and Margaret’s family as their eldest Grandchild Sarah, was married to Matthew.
The wedding took place in Coventry in August of 2009 and was followed by receptions in both Coventry and Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia)
King’s School has now been operating for 8 years and from its small beginnings has grown to over 400 pupils with a staff of 25 people. We have 13 teachers who run a two shift system. Half of the pupils attend morning school and the rest come in the afternoon
In the latter part of 2009, five people from Bethel Church in Mansfield Woodhouse, U.K. visited the school along with Arthur and Margaret. Their visit covered two weeks of frantic activity and was an immense blessing to the School. This was followed by one of them (Jim Oakley) returning for a 3 month period

‘It’s difficult to understand what life is like for people who live in poorer countries – we do feel compassion for them, but we’re still a step removed from really grasping the reality of their everyday lives. I was fortunate to have been able to stay in Zambia for three months,
desks for the grade 1 and 2 pupils at King’s school. From what I saw and from what Zambians told me, I know God has made a difference in a lot of lives through the work of the school. Not only are many children having the opportunity to get a good education, but I believe somehow the Holy Spirit has been moving in the village of Soweto through the school being there. My prayer is that He will keep touching and blessing the teachers, the students and the whole village with His love and power’
Tables being made
30 were completed
along with 120 benches.
Our thanks to
Jim, John and Tim for all their work.
Grace and Diane who were with the party have both had nursing experience and sought to screen everyone of our children - looking for signs of common ailments
Shadrek has featured in previous news updates and so will be recognized by those who have followed events in Kings School. He is fourteen and was badly burnt in a fire when he was one week old. We had some surgery done for him in Zambia but much more intensive work on his face needs to be carried out.
It has been our intention for the past three years to bring him over to the U.K for intensive plastic surgery. It has taken all this time for us to finally get him a passport, due to many difficult circumstances.
NOW we have had a Divine Intervention. A leading plastic surgeon in the U.K. contacted Arthur and stated his willingness to carry out the surgery needed. In April of this year he is going out to Zambia to see Shadrek and to make a decision as to whether to operate out there or do the surgery in the U.K. PLEASE PRAY for Shadrek that the will of the Lord be done and that as a result he will have a future that is bright.
The age of our grade 9 pupils ranges from 16-19. This age discrepancy is due to the fact that all our children came into school on the same base irrespective of age – that is – they were all illiterate.
Some of our grade 9 class. Total in class - 35
At the end of last year our grade 9’s took their external exam. 166 pupils from many schools took the exam. Out of these there were only 35 who passed and of these 25 were from Kings School. One of our boys scored the highest pass mark attained
For the past 10 years this is where we have lived in Zambia. The lease expires in June and we shall be without a home PLEASE PRAY FOR GOD TO PROVIDE US WITH A BETTER PLACE.
It is 10 years since we started the project to build the school and eight years since the first stage was opened.
The cost of building has been immense and fraught with difficulties and we thank God for His provision and help
Educating and feeding the children costs £48,000 p.a. In addition to this we have all the expenses involved in building and upkeep. The current financial crisis has hit us hard and some of our sponsors have dropped out.

FUND RAISING - We would value any ideas you may have for raising money. Please do contact us if you would like to be involved
SPONSOR A CHILD - This is where most of our income has been generated and if you could persuade any friends to become a sponsor the enclosed bank form can be used. We respond to sponsors by sending a photo and name of the child they will be sponsoring
GIFTS FROM CHURCHES AND INDIVIDUALS are a great help and from time to time have come at critical moments. If you can encourage your church to support us we would be immensely grateful.
SHORT TERM MISSIONS
We have had quite a few churches who have sent people out to help in the school for short periods. In the case of Mansfield Woodhouse, one of their members (Jim) spent 3 months of last year working in the school and it is his intention to return there later this year. In addition, the following churches have sent members out to work in and see the school - Royston Bethel (Yorkshire), Chesterfield and Northampton. This year we are being visited by the leaders of ‘Father’s House’ orphanage in Ukraine.
